TALL SHIPS CRUISE

2017

BOSTON – MASSACHUSETTS

The Tall Ships Are Coming, The Tall Ships Are Coming!

Enjoy Boston’s scenic and historic inner harbor, view the majesty, and experience first-hand Boston’s rich maritime heritage with a safe and exciting Tall Ships cruise.

Over 40 extraordinary vessels, from around the world, with as many as 14 Class A Tall Ships, and dozens of other charismatic vessels, will descend upon Boston Harbor like enormous colorful butterflies. The city of Boston will be an official -and ONLY- host port for the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta -a last stop before arrival Quebec, Canada. Boston, Massachusetts has a long and storied history hosting the Tall Ships, with Massachusetts Bay Lines always participating as an important sponsor and experienced tour provider.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the forming of the Confederation of Canada, a defining event in the national history of the United States and Canada. It has been suggested as many as 5-7 million visitors will visit Boston just for a glimpse of this peaceful armada.

While the Tall Ships are in port, dates will be reserved exclusively for cruises to view the Tall Ships. Each day, Mass Bay Lines vessels will offer Tall Ship sightseeing cruises, fully narrated by the Captain and crew. You’ll hear a detailed description of the ship’s structure and crew, its history, and other unique points of interest.

What’s In Store

On Friday, June 16th, the day before the official festival begins, the large and charismatic sail ships arriving as honored guests and regatta participants, will dramatically anchor nearby setting the stage, under their masthead anchor lights, for a week like no other. This is an oft overlooked yet one of the most visually spectacular moments of the whole visit.

The defining moment however is the Parade of Sails this crowd pleasing event will take place on Saturday June 17th. Very few vessels will provide the requisite 5 hour charters scheduled for this historic occasion. Starting at 7:30 AM, our first cruise departs Rowes Wharf; passengers will be witnesses to an event as rare as an Aurora Borealis. Due to the absence of other ship traffic during the Parade (prohibited by USCG decree) our Captains and crew can focus your attention on the ships arriving under full sails without distraction. We encourage event planners and professional photographers to reserve this day (ASAP) to delight clients and capture many photographic angles of the ships under full sail. There are not enough words to describe the visual beauty and visceral joy that accompanies this experience.

Excitement is inevitable as ships from around the world sail into Massachusetts’s world renowned inner harbor. Make your reservations soon as dates will fill quickly. Private charters are available for groups as small as 45 or as large as 300. Public cruises are also available for singles, couples, families and private groups.
